Election
Each year, the Association has an Annual Meeting of the Membership, where the primary purpose is to elect new members to the Board of Directors.

The Annual Meeting for 2023 is scheduled for Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 5:30 PM at the Great Room Clubhouse. This year, there are three (3) seats available up for election.

If you are interested in running for one of the three (3) seats, please complete and submit a Candidacy Form Monday, March 6, 2023, by end of day. All applicants must meet candidate qualifications in order to be eligible and have their name included on the ballot, which will be mailed on/ by April 10, 2023. The Election Rules, which include the qualifications for candidacy, are linked below.

In addition to the qualifications within the Association’s Election Rules, directors must meet the requirements of Civil Code. Two of the most important requirements are the Duty of Loyalty and Duty of Care. Otherwise known as fiduciary duty, Duty of Loyalty requires directors to act in the best interest of Columbus Grove Community Association. This requires that a director be objective, unselfish, responsible, and trustworthy. A director must also exercise Duty of Care. This requires a director to regularly attend meetings, participate in discussions, conduct due diligence with reasonable inquiry, make the tough decisions, and enforce the Governing Documents (regardless of whether they personally agree with them or not). A director can expect to spend anywhere from 5-15 hours per month fulfilling these duties.

For those who wish to get more involved, but are not ready to commit to a position on the Board of Directors, we currently have open seats for Officers of the Corporation. The Officer of the Corporation role is fantastic for anyone interested in one day running for the Board of Directors or wanting to get more involved in the operations of the Association. Officers support Columbus Grove and Board of Directors by participating in the monthly meetings and providing valuable insight and a different perspective during discussions. The term of an Officer of the Corporation is one year, and an Officer can expect to spend 3-5 hours a month on average volunteering on behalf of the Association. Officers are appointed, not elected, so please contact Management if you wish to be considered. Most of the current sitting directors were once Officers of the Corporation, as it’s a great way to get familiar with the governance, operations, and maintenance of the Association.
